I'm Thaksha,
nice to meet you!
My journey to research is not a common one. My curiosity about accessibility led me to research! I'm known for my 'pretzel brain' — twisting and turning through many thoughts, ideas, and approaches!

How I got started in user research
My discovery of American Sign Language (ASL) sparked my desire to learn about Deaf culture and the role language plays in family dynamics, identity, and social interactions. In undergrad, I continued learning ASL while studying linguistics, computer science, and math. Linguistics deepened my fascination with the connection between community and culture and how experiences can vary in different contexts.
In my third year, I discovered UX design and research, which expanded my thinking beyond language to consider the entire human experience and inspired me to pursue a Master of Information in UX.
What I'm curious about
Driven by my intellectual curiosity, I explored accessibility in various contexts through self-initiated projects. Today, I combine my passion for accessibility with UX research, striving to advocate for diverse voices!

What fuels my side quests
Learning has always been integral to who I am! I’m drawn to exploring different perspectives, trying new things, and diving into hobbies that challenge and inspire me. I love finding unique ways to engage with the world such as studying languages to connect with people, acquiring new skills like crocheting and philosophy, or expressing myself through poems and music. These mediums bring meaning not just to my life, but also to those I care about. For me, learning isn’t just about knowledge — it’s about sharing moments, building connections, and discovering new ways to create and grow!
